Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City’s home support have an important role to play in the outcome of our Premier League clash with Liverpool.

City currently hold a one-point advantage over the Reds at the Premier League summit ahead of one of the most hotly anticipated matches of the campaign.

The two sides served up a thrilling 2-2 draw in October’s reverse fixture at Anfield, widely considered one of the most entertaining matches of the 2021/22 campaign so far.

And ahead of Sunday’s showdown, Guardiola has explained how the Etihad Stadium atmosphere can help push his players over the line.

“We are players and managers to live this kind of situation, fighting to be champion or fighting to qualify for the Champions League really soon,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“Hopefully our people, I am pretty sure they will come back and support us in the bad moments.

“They have to be there and aggressive to support us in the bad moments we will have, and I am pretty sure our players will respond.

“They are ready too to face the challenge of Liverpool trying to beat us.”
