Foden is the poster boy for City’s Academy, joining at Under-9 level and going on to win 15 major honours already at the tender age of just 23.
And the boss believes his serial winner can get even better in 2023/24 and beyond.
“Phil is a reality. I said many times he loves football and that is [an] incredible advantage. He would play every day,” Guardiola told journalists at his City v Newcastle press conference.
“He has to improve, he can improve. He wants to learn, he will learn.
“At the end, we forget the impact was incredible but he is 23 years old. So young.
“[He] won already five Premier Leagues. Champions League. Won everything. [He plays for the] national team.
“As a player, he can play in three or four positions. And his mentality is really good.”
Guardiola is hugely thankful for the work being done at the City Football Academy as they create a conveyor belt of unbelievable talent for him to work with.
Even now, alongside Foden, Guardiola can call on the likes of Rico Lewis, Cole Palmer, James McAtee and Oscar Bobb, all nurtured by sky blue coaches from a young age.
“For us it’s like Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer now. Many players. You cannot imagine - like Romeo Lavia now is Chelsea, James Trafford in Burnley so the Academy is so good.
“So many incredible players are playing in that so the Academy help us a lot to be sustainable.
