Pep Guardiola says City have to ‘fight’ once again to show we deserve to progress through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

City launch our 2021/22 Champions League campaign at home to RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.

The side enjoyed a superb European campaign last year, winning 11 out of 12 games on the way to the final before being edged out 1-0 by Chelsea.

Addressing the media ahead of our Group A opener, the City boss urged his players to transfer the fine form we have shown in the Premier League onto the continental stage once again.

“We have to regain and fight to deserve to be in the next stages. The first target is to win tomorrow,” Guardiola asserted.

“Keep the rhythm and the way we played in the last three games against Norwich, Arsenal and Leicester and then see what happens.

“We have to prepare well the game and continue the rhythm of the last few games. We were at a high level and we have to continue this way.

“Then prepare for Southampton, Wycombe, Chelsea, PSG and Liverpool.”
