Pep Guardiola admits he’s looking forward to seeing Rodri as the midfielder makes a return to the Etihad with his Ballon d’Or trophy this weekend.

Rodri won the iconic individual honour in Paris last month and he’s jetting across to Manchester from Madrid to showcase the award at the Tottenham game.

The boss will get the chance to catch up with his defensive midfielder on the eve of Saturday’s encounter with Spurs and he’s relishing the opportunity to welcome the Spanish star back.

I FELT I COULD NOT LEAVE NOW - PEP

“Tomorrow Rodri is coming back the first time since the Ballon d’Or so we couldn’t see him and congratulate him and we are coming back to the Etihad from a long time ago so hopefully we can perform well and start to take our rhythm.

“It’s nice to see him back, of course. But it’s normal. He made the surgery in Madrid and it’s normal to stay with the family for the first steps.

“I think in January he will come back here to make the recovery. What I hear from the doctors is it’s going really, really well. His mood is good.

“He’s unique in our club, one player play here and get this amazing award and share it with our people. It’s so nice and I am looking forward to seeing him.”
