The England right-back inherited the armband from Ilkay Gundogan and is one of five dressing room skippers along with Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Rodrigo, and Bernardo.
Though De Bruyne started our opening Premier League game against Burnley, he has been absent with injury ever since and Walker has led the team when he has played.
Guardiola believes the extra responsibility suits Walker.
“He’s the same guy,” said the City boss.
“He was involved before without (the) captain’s armband, but now the players decide to pick him.
“He’s the same, but with more responsibility.
“If we have a problem in the locker room he can solve it. I’m really pleased.”
Guardiola was also asked whether he thought Walker could lead England regularly as well, given he recently filled in for Harry Kane against North Macedonia – his first time as captain for the Three Lions.
He said: “I’m pretty sure he’d be happy (to).”
“He was born here and to represent your country is so nice.
“I think Kane is the captain but of course, he’s not a young lad anymore.
“He has a lot of experience and titles, that’s why he can show it to the rest of the people.”
