Pep Guardiola says he will hold talks with the Club hierarchy to map out City’s strategy ahead of the opening of the January transfer window.

The champions’ squad has been hit hard by injury to a host of key players this season with Ballon d’Or winner Rodrigo ruled out for the season and a host of other key individuals having been laid low by problems of one sort or another.

City were again depleted for Boxing Day’s 1-1 Premier League draw at home to Everton  with Ruben Dias, Ederson, Jack Grealish, John Stones all injured and skipper Kyle Walker sidelined through illness.

Though Bernardo Silva struck to give City a deserved first half lead Everton levelled against the run of play through Iliman Ndiaye.

Erling Haaland then saw a second half penalty saved as Guardiola‘s side were forced to settle for a point in what was our final home game of 2024.

But, asked at his post-match press conference about whether the Club would be busy once the winter transfer window opens, Pep struck a realistic tone.

“I don’t know. Transfer windows in winter is not easy,” the City boss pointed out.

“We want players for the next three, four, five years. This is not easy to do it. We are going to try because we cannot sustain for a long time to have so many important players injured.

“It’s not easy to make these swaps some time. We have to talk with the club, and they will decide.”
