Pep Guardiola has called on his City players to grasp games earlier on in order to prevent the need for comebacks.

City came from two goals down to beat Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, having been 3-1 down before earning a draw against Newcastle United the Sunday before.

Speaking in his usual pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s meeting with Nottingham Forest, Guardiola warned his side that they may drop points should they continue to concede the advantage.

“Yes, we have to try to avoid it,” he said.

“In one turn it is good because in the past, in the last years, always when we were down we found it difficult to come back.

“We proved last season and this season we can do it but we have to try and avoid it as much as possible, to go in touch to try and handle this situation. It is risky. One day we won’t be able to come back.”
