Pep Guardiola says he knows his players still have the will to win by the way they celebrate goals.

City return to FA Cup action on Saturday when we welcome Plymouth Argyle to the Etihad Stadium for a 17:45 (UK) kick-off.

The Championship side will be another tough test just as League One opponents Leyton Orient were in the previous round.

Guardiola says the way John Stones celebrated Kevin De Bruyne’s winner in the fourth round win showed how much it meant to the Blues.

And on Wednesday night, James McAtee showed similar enthusiasm following Erling Haaland’s second goal against Spurs although the referee disallowed it.

The former Academy midfielder is in contention to face the Pilgrims and the boss has been delighted with his appetite to succeed.

“I like with McAtee the way he celebrated the goal that was disallowed,” Guardiola said. “I like to see [this from] these players.

“The game against Orient with Kevin that John Stones celebrate. He’s played in World Cups, won European Cups, won everything, the way he celebrated, I like that.

“When I see this kind of reaction, I see something inside that says you like to play football in this club.

“When you accept it and it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, that’s not a good sign.

“That’s why Macca I like it when I saw it. He came from the bench for 10-15 minutes suffering to win against Spurs and when we scored before it was disallowed and we celebrate, I like it.”
