Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Bernardo Silva following his outstanding performance against Arsenal.

The Portuguese midfielder was at his influential best to inspire Manchester City to a comfortable 5-0 victory over the Gunners, who had Granit Xhaka dismissed in the first half.

Deployed in a central role in midfield, it was Bernardo who provided the cross for Ferran Torres’ second goal and Guardiola felt his performance was exceptional.

Bernardo in his mind is happy - happy in his life and what a player,” said the City boss at his post-match press conference.

“The year we won the Premier League with 98 points, he was the best player in the Premier League.

“All I want is his happiness. He can play in different positions. He always plays good and today he played exceptional again.”
