Pep Guardiola said that he and the City squad were hugely grateful for the ‘incredible gesture’ of owner HH Sheikh Mansour in pledging to fund the flight and transfer costs for the Official Club trip to the Champions League final in Porto.
It was revealed earlier today that thousands of City supporters will benefit from the Sheikh’s initiative which is designed to ease the financial pressure on fans who have faced - and are still facing - challenging circumstances due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
And speaking at his post-match press conference in the wake of Tuesday’s 3-2 loss at Brighton, the City boss expressed his and the players’ huge appreciation for the gesture.
“Congratulations to Sheikh Mansour for this incredible and top-class gesture,” said Guardiola.
“To do this on behalf of our people is incredible.
“Thank you so, so much on behalf of all the team.”
