Pep Guardiola said that Erling Haaland was withdrawn at half-time in Wednesday’s 3-0 Premier League home win over Fulham as a precautionary measure.
The Norwegian had scored City’s third goal after earlier efforts from Antoine Semenyo and Nico O’Reilly in what was a superb first 45 minutes from the Blues.
The latest strike also took Haaland level with Colin Bell on 153 career goals for City making him equal fourth on the all-time rankings.
However, he didn’t come out for the second half with Omar Marmoush summoned on in his place.
“Niggles. He didn’t feel comfortable,” Guardiola revealed in his post-match press conference.
“Reason why? Many games. I didn’t speak with doctors, I don’t know exactly what he has.
“He said I don’t feel comfortable and at 3-0, with Omar and games to come, it was common sense.”
