Pep Guardiola has expressed his delight at Phil Foden's display during Manchester City's Carabao Cup final victory over Aston Villa.

Guardiola‘s men secured a 2-1 victory over Dean Smith’s side at Wembley after first-half goals from Sergio Aguero and Rodri.

Foden played a key role in helping City take the advantage, setting up Aguero’s opener with a neat header.

Villa pulled one goal back before the interval but City were not to be denied Carabao Cup glory for the third time in three seasons.

Afterwards, the boss heaped praise on the young Englishman for the intelligence and technical quality he showed throughout.

“The way he fought and the way he’s ready to compete, I’m more than pleased with the way he played,” he said.

“He’s so clever in the small spaces. He can be here without a problem and I never doubted that he can do it.

“It was perfect for me and for him to let him play.”
