Pep Guardiola admits he wishes City were playing in the Champions League right now after watching the semi-finals being contested this week.

PSG defeated Bayern Munich 5-4 in a spectacular game at Parc des Princes on Tuesday while Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw at Metropolitano Stadium with the second legs coming up next week to decide the finalists in Budapest at the end of the month.

Guardiola watched the PSG v Bayern game on catch-up at home after taking in Stockport’s home defeat to Port Vale earlier in the evening as one of
8,884 fans in Edgeley Park.

The Blues boss says he misses the UCL buzz when City aren’t involved.

“In the moment, with teams playing Tuesday and Wednesday, I say I would like to be there in the Champions League,” he said.

“But in life you can never enjoy everything.
