Pep Guardiola is hopeful that Bernardo Silva will be available for selection for City’s trip to Sheffield United.

The Portugal international featured for the entirety of our 3-0 opening day win over Burnley, but was unavailable for both our Super Cup triumph and our Premier League win over Newcastle United through injury.

Bernardo missed just four Premier League games in our previous campaign, proving a key figure in our route to securing the Treble.

However, when asked on the potential of players returning to the fold before our trip to Bramall Lane, Guardiola admitted the midfielder could feature.

“Hopefully Bernardo [will be back for Sheffield United],” said Guardiola.

Bernardo, I don’t know when he’s coming back, maybe tomorrow [Sunday]. The rest I don’t know.

“We maybe have one or two days rest now because it’s been so demanding since Arsenal and everything.

“We’re going to try to train a little bit our principles and concepts.”
