Pep Guardiola says his impressive Premier League record in April must continue if City are to challenge Arsenal for the title.

Guardiola has overseen an incredible 28 wins in the last 31 top-flight games during this month with the Blues – that’s an astonishing average of 2.5 points per game in the business end of the season.

This term, City are nine points behind the Gunners with one game in hand and he says his team must be flawless – or very close to flawless - to make it seven Premier League titles in ten years with just eight matches remaining.

“Hopefully we can do a lot of points,” he told press at his media briefing ahead of our weekend clash with Chelsea.

“The situation we’re in the Premier League, we need to do all of them otherwise it doesn’t give us a chance to be there at the end so we need to do a lot of points.

“We weren’t consistent enough in the season, we dropped points we should’ve taken, which is why we’re in this position where we can’t do it differently.”

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal play before City this weekend as they take on Bournemouth at The Emirates on Saturday at 12:30 (UK) while we face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday at 16:30 (UK).

Guardiola dismissed suggestions the timing gave the Gunners a phycological advantage.

“We have to do our games,” he added.

“Playing before or later, now the remaining few games for the Premier League, we have to win every single game.”
