Pep Guardiola says Phil Foden has an incredible desire to help City score goals.

Foden has been a prominent figure in Guardiola’s side in 2025/26, starting in the last six successive games in which City are unbeaten.

He has four goal involvements and looks to be back at his best following a difficult 2024/25 season that was impacted by injuries.

The 25-year-old will be looking to play another key role in City’s forward line on Sunday when we face Brentford at 16:30 (UK).

And if his record at the Gtech Community Stadium is anything to go by, the England international is bound to be involved.

Foden is the only City player to have scored at Brentford’s home ground since their promotion to the English top-flight in 2021/22.

In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola was quick to heap praise on Foden’s movement, awareness and energy as the reasons why he’s one of our best assets in the final third.

“He’s one of the best players we have in small spaces in the final third, by far,” said Pep.

“In terms of assists and in terms of goals in small spaces, how he times an attack and the desire to score a goal is the best we have.”
