Pep Guardiola says he has the utmost respect for Everton manager Sean Dyche.

The Toffees’ boss celebrates his 300-game Premier League landmark against City on Saturday – a team he has won just once against in 19 games (all competitions), losing on 16 occasions.

But Guardiola says Dyche has been one of the top division’s most consistent managers and that is why he is expecting nothing less than a difficult game at the Etihad.

“First of all congratulations [to Sean],” said Pep.

“It’s a good milestone. We face each other many times at Burnley and now Everton.

“Congratulations to him. When you achieve these numbers it’s because he’s been so consistent.”

Asked about his own personal unbeaten record against Dyche, the City boss replied: “Don’t ask, I know what happened. I have huge respect for Sean and all he has done.

“The way he plays, the belief in the players he has. Just focus on what you have to do.”
