Pep Guardiola has outlined how City tackled the recent run of five consecutive away matches.

City have not played at the Etihad Stadium since 12 February, winning three and drawing two of our games on the road in the meantime.

With travel and rest either side of each match, Guardiola concedes there has been little time for training in recent weeks.

“When we play five games away every three days it’s just rest, talk a little bit,” he said.

“In terms of training it’s just recovery, prepare, no training. This I didn’t change from what we did in the past.”

City v Newcastle | Match preview

The World Cup in November and December 2022 has compressed this season, meaning matches are coming thick and fast for Guardiola‘s men.

However, other than recent illnesses to Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte, a John Stones hamstring injury and Stefan Ortega Moreno‘s impact injury in Tuesday night’s win over Bristol City, the Blues appear largely unscathed.

“Yeah but so far so good,” he said.

“We have had problems with illness and John [Stones] a few weeks ago but the rest seem well so that’s good.”
