The boss made his feelings clear after the 4-2 win over Spurs last month, with City recovering from two goals down to take three points against Antonio Conte’s side.
At his Friday press briefing, Guardiola was asked if his words after the Etihad victory over Tottenham had made the desired impact – but he responded by saying it was more of a reminder of what is needed in this league.
“I don’t know - is the criticism exclusively to the players? It was not my words about the criticism because it was after a victory,” said Pep.
“It was just the fact, the feeling I have after 11 titles in five years or four Premier League titles in five years is ‘OK, we have time, we will see’.
“And when you drop a little bit in this competition, it’s more and more difficult.
“But I am the first to (give) myself criticism to do what they have to do to make the team alive again.
“Every single ball and action (must) be really, really, really important. That was the message for all of us, the whole organisation, not just exclusively the players.
“It’s easy to blame to the players because they are the leading role in this movie.
“But it’s not just about them, it’s everyone. You have to come back. That does not change one day or another way or in one press conference change everything.
“It’s a process daily. And try to be there.
“(My players) don’t need my words to know it. They know where they are.
“Yes expectations at this club rise. Increase a lot. And our standards are simple.
“Before the season, November, you should win the Premier League!
“So this is a reality. Accept that and handle the situation is difficult.
“Expectations are so high. Before when I arrive, it was not high. So you have to handle it and have do it much better as possible.”
