Pep Guardiola believes that City's upcoming busy fixture schedule is a 'beautiful challenge' in the wake of our record-breaking 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Goals from Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva secured our 10th straight win of 2021, which saw City create a new English top-flight record of wins at the start of a calendar year.

After a hectic start to 2021, City’s schedule only gets busier in the coming weeks.

Despite the fixture congestion piling the pressure on the first-team squad, the City boss believes it poses an exciting task with his side going from strength to strength after recording 17 straight wins across all competitions.

“The schedule can get you depressed as it’s too many games,” the boss declared after our latest success at Goodison Park.

“The guys need rest but at the same time it is a beautiful challenge.”

City head into the coming weeks competing in all four major competitions, however the Catalan said he was taking every game as it comes.

“We have the Carabao Cup final then we are back here for the FA Cup [at Everton]. We don’t look at the calendar just the next one,” Guardiola added.

“It’s non-stop but we recover well and try to win the next one.”
