Pep Guardiola says Rodri’s outstanding form this season is the result of his willingness to listen and learn from those around him.

The Spain midfielder, now in his third year at City, has already clocked up 112 appearances for the Club.

His first two seasons were impressive as he adapted to his new surroundings, but his manager believes he has improved further this term and is showing his best form yet in the early part of the new campaign.

“Sometimes players come and start well and then have high and lows,” said Guardiola.

“He is a young player and he is improving because he has the willingness to listen and say, ‘I can do better’.

“I don’t say ‘do it because I say’, I try and get him to understand why.

“When you have the willingness to listen, the results are there. His margin to improve is high.

“Ultimately, it depends on the players. I agree that the last games he played were magnificent.

“He has a presence and I still have the feeling he can improve and make us play even better. We are here to help him.

“He is here to accept the challenge and he will be even better.”
