The pair have been pivotal in the Blades’ form that sees them second in the Championship and on the verge of a return to the Premier League.
However, they will not be available for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final due to an FA rule that forbids loan players from facing their parent clubs in the competition.
City v Sheffield United | Match preview
While Guardiola is happy with how the pair have adapted to this season’s challenges, he is disappointed they won’t be able to experience a Wembley semi-final.
“It’s really good,” said Guardiola on how the youngsters have played this year.
“Tommy Doyle since the beginning he played, Macca struggled a little in the beginning. Playing a lot of games, Championship is a good test for yourself. We are delighted.
“Unfortunately they can’t play. Loan players to get experience and what better experience for City is to play FA Cup semi-final. Would be incredible for their development. Rule is the rule.”
