Pep Guardiola has called for his team to ‘impose our game’ as we get set to face Southampton in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final.

We take on the Saints at St Mary’s Stadium, with an 20:00 (UK time) kick-off.

Guardiola’s team made it through to the last eight with home victories over Chelsea (2-0) and Liverpool (3-2).

The win over the Reds was the first game back after the World Cup winter break and we have really found our stride since that resumption in action.

We followed that victory over Jurgen Klopp’s men up with a 3-1 win away at Leeds, a 1-1 home draw with Everton, a 1-0 away victory at Chelsea before our FA Cup Third Round 4-0 win over the Blues again on Sunday.

Guardiola wants his players to continue this rich vein of form as they aim for the semi-finals.

He said: “It’s an away game. It’s better to play at home.

“I know they are in a difficult position. A new manager [Nathan Jones]. We knew perfectly, with the previous one, with Ralph [Hasenhuttl] how we struggle every season.

“Now we saw a little bit that they changed some movements, some patterns, that is normal because every manager has his own style.

“You have to adapt to what they do and try to impose our game and win the game, of course.

“We want to reach the semi-final tomorrow.”
