Pep Guardiola expressed his delight at our impressive 5-2 win over Southampton with the City boss declaring that we had now arrived in ‘the important part of the season.’
The Saints proved tough, testing opponents - especially in an incident-packed first half before braces from Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyyne along with an Ilkay Gundogan strike sent us 14 points clear at the top with nine games left.
“We arrived in the important part of the season. That’s why I love the Premier League,” Guardiola declared at his post-match press conference.
“That’s why the Premier League needs a lot of credit because you have to overcome games like this. That is why I love it.
“Nine games left. We need five or six victories. We start against Fulham.”
