Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Gabriel Jesus’ goalscoring performance against Swansea as he revealed the important role the Brazilian has been playing in the Manchester City changing room.

City moved into the FA Cup sixth round with a comfortable 3-1 victory at the Liberty Stadium, where Jesus netted the final goal with a smart shot on the turn.

Guardiola was delighted with the striker’s efforts, as he was in our previous outing against Liverpool, when City’s No.9 impressed his manager with his attitude despite being named amongst the substitutes.

“He could have scored more but he played really well again,” Pep said after the Swansea victory, which was the 200th of his City career.

“He was incredible at Anfield when he didn’t play. He was incredibly supportive to his mates.

“When he plays, he always plays good. It’s important for strikers to score. He was brilliant, really brilliant.”
