Pep Guardiola says he has every confidence the goals will soon start flowing again for Gabriel Jesus – and has praised the striker’s vital overall contribution to the City cause.

Though Jesus has gone without a goal for the past six games, the City boss was at pains to praise the work ethic and crucial role the 23-year-old undertakes for the team at his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s game against West Brom.

Guardiola described the Brazilian as ’one of the best strikers in the world’ in terms of his unselfish work for the team.

And the City boss insisted what he saw in training made him sure the goals will soon start flowing again for Jesus.

“Yeah, he will do it soon (score). I see him every day and I love him so much what he does,” Guardiola declared.

“One of the reasons we concede so few is exclusively for him.

“I want his goals, but his contribution is the best striker in the world at doing things any other striker can do for the team. Regaining the ball, pressing high, opponent 18 yards box - he helps us to do it.”
