Pep Guardiola was delighted with Jack Grealish’s performance after his first start of the season in our 3-1 victory over West Ham.

The City winger impressed on our preseason tour to the United States but was ruled out of our opening weekend win at Chelsea through injury.

He returned to the side for the trip to the London Stadium and enjoyed a running battle with West Ham’s new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Grealish was recalled to the England squad, along with Rico Lewis, John Stones and Phil Foden, and Guardiola believes the international fixtures will help them with their fitness.

Guardiola said: “[Grealish] was really good. He was aggressive without the ball but especially with the ball against Wan-Bissaka and made good actions.

“Hopefully he can come back fit and better. All my English players I would like them to go to the national team when they are fit and the other nationalities the same.

“I don’t like when they’re not completely fit and they go but with the power of the national team we don’t have anything to say.”
