Pep Guardiola says Wolves’ run of six successive Premier League wins is no surprise.

The Black Country side looked set for a relegation dogfight six weeks ago as they sat just above third-bottom Ipswich Town.

But a superb run of results have seen Vitor Pereira’s side move 20 points clear of the drop zone and up to 13th place in the table.

City boss Guardiola says Friday evening’s opponents have a team packed with quality and their recent results are a reflection of that.

“The quality they have, the shape they play and the courage [they have], it’s no surprise,” said Pep.

“Wolves always have really good players and now they have incredible run.

“Similar when Newcastle came a month ago and Aston Villa came recently. It’s another final for us. Maybe the most important game we have ahead of us.

“We have four finals [in the Premier League].

Asked if Wolves having no pressure made them more dangerous than if they were fighting the drop, Pep added: “I’m pretty sure the Wolves players wanted to come here already safe, from the difficult position there were in.”
