Just five weeks after that momentous night in Istanbul where City beat Inter to win the Champions League and so secure the Treble, the build up to the 2023/24 season is now underway.
City play our first pre-season friendly on Sunday in Tokyo against Yokohama F Marinos, a game that will be shown live on CITY+ and Recast.
And addressing the media at his pre-match press conference in the Japanese capital, the boss was unequivocal about how his players went about seeking to follow up the greatest season in the Club’s history.
“We have done just three training sessions together so we are still far away (but) I know them well and I am pretty sure they will be ready,” Guardiola asserted.
“I don’t know how consistent we will be after what we have done - but I will ask them not to forget what we have done but we will try to do it again step by step.
“We try and take our composure, our rhythm and remember who we are as a team.
“We had perfect experience playing Yokohama four years ago with Ange (Postecoglou), the Tottenham manager. It was the end of the season, and they were fighting for the league.
“They will be miles ahead of us in terms of condition, but we are looking forward to tomorrow because it is better than staying in the hotel and doing training sessions!”
