It’s been a wonderful few weeks for the Blues after seeing off Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley to win the League Cup for a fifth time in our history before comfortably defeating Liverpool 4-0 to ensure a rapid return to the national stadium later this month for the FA Cup semi-final.
Next up, though, is Premier League action at Chelsea as we head to Stamford Bridge a week today for a 16:30 (UK) Sunday fixture.
In the table, City are nine points behind leaders Arsenal but with a game in hand and Lijnders wants to build momentum in the top-flight on the back of our cup success.
“We have to because we are points behind” he said.
“We have to keep stepping up and keep using the days off to recover and then have training.
“We give them two days off and we can start training again.
“There are several ways to create confidence for a team – by doing a few things really right in training but also winning football matches and winning finals.
“That is what defines the confidence levels for players.
“I have always felt that in the last so many years.
“Winning is not about technique, it’s pure desire. It’s the combination of talent and desire.”
