Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Zack Steffen will start for City in the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday.

The shot-stopper started between the sticks for City for the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday and when quizzed about the US number one, Guardiola confirmed that he will keep his spot for the Carabao Cup final.

“Yeah, he is going to play the League Cup final. For sure,” the boss said.

“He made a good save and with the ball he was brilliant. Unfortunately, we could not be more clear in the final third. In general, as a performance, I don’t have many complaints.”

Guardiola also reiterated the trust that he has in his players.

“I know them quite well, and they tried. They put everything in. They tried and for me, it is enough.

“They have to fight for confidence. We trust them. It’s not about a single position.”

Guardiola also spoke about team selections, learning from the defeat and the possibility of being without Kevin de Bruyne again due to injury.
