Seven-year-old Braydon thought he was getting picked up in ‘Chappy’s Taxi’ - Chappy being Les Chapman, City’s former Kit Manager-turned-City TV presenter.
As far as Braydon and four other Cityzens were concerned, they’d each be collected by Chappy at one of five iconic Manchester locations and then be driven in style to the Cityzens Weekend at the City Football Academy to welcome the new Blues manager to the Etihad.
But, it was actually the classy Catalan coach who greeted them with young Braydon the first pick-up in ‘Pep’s Taxi’ outside the iconic National Football Museum.
It’s fair to say Braydon was in shock as he entered the cab before eventually telling the newly-installed manager: ‘Now we’ve got you, we’re going to win them all.’
Pep replied modestly: ‘All the trophies? We’re going to try!’.
Well 10 years and 20 trophies later, the pair reunited - where else but in a taxi - and reminisced about that first meeting and what’s happened in the dominant decade that followed for the Blues.
