Phil Foden says he was impressed with City's sharpness, as Pep Guardiola's men returned to action with a 3-0 triumph over Arsenal.

The youngster was on the scoresheet to mark the Premier League’s resumption, coming off the bench to bag the third goal late on.

“We weren’t going to be at 100%,” he admitted, “but we’ve been training really hard to get back to it.

“It’s been strange with the break but I thought the lads came back really sharp, making short passes and things to get back into it.

“Today, it paid off and we were happy to be back on the pitch - and back with a win.

“There were a lot of changes. That’s going to be how it is - the way forward - in the next couple of games.

“Every player is needed so every player needs to be ready to come on.

“The boss said everyone needs to be ready - not everyone can play every game 90 minutes. He’s going to rotate a lot and I need to be ready to play whenever to try my best.

“The fitness levels were okay. We pressed high and looked like the City everyone knows.”

Foden also shared his thoughts on playing behind-closed-doors and provided an update on the injured Eric Garcia, wishing his fellow youngster well.
