Phil Foden has credited Pep Guardiola with shaping his incredible career to date.

The 22-year-old, who has today extended his City contract to 2027, has already won 11 major honours and clocked up almost 200 senior appearances.

Foden was named PFA and Premier League Young Player of the Year in each of the last two seasons, and has also become integral to Gareth Southgate’s England team.

The Stockport-born midfielder was just 16 when Guardiola arrived in Manchester and was immediately picked out as a future talent by the manager.

Now he is pivotal to Guardiola’s plans, playing 50 and 45 times respectively in each of the last two campaigns.

And Foden knows just what an impact the Catalan has had on him.

“Amazing,” he said when asked about Guardiola’s coaching style.

“Unbelievable, I think he’s made me 10 times the player I was. He’s improved all aspects of my game and I’m just thankful to have him here and I’m enjoying my football with him.”
