The Croatian international, who joined us from Chelsea last month, made his second appearance for the Club in Tuesday’s impressive 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Bayern Munich in Tokyo.
Goals from James McAtee and Aymeric Laporte sealed a second successive win for City on our Asia Tour 2023.
Kovacic again caught the eye in an assured first 45 minutes before making way at the break as one of eight City changes.
For his part Foden believes the midfielder has already hit the ground running with City and shown how much he will bring to the squad.
“Mateo has come straight into the team, and he has fitted in really well and looks at home,” Foden said

“He’s a person that can bring a lot of quality to the team.
“He is aggressive in the challenge and good at getting out of pressure in tight situations.
“I feel like him coming into the team can help us a lot and I’m really excited to play with him.”
