That was enough to see us past Unai Emery’s Champions League-chasing Villa side, who were the last team to get the better of us back in December.
After the weekend’s stalemate with Arsenal, Foden expressed his joy in his post-match interview.
“Delighted with the result,” the England international began.
“I thought the performance was at a very high level, and I think it was one of our most controlled games this year against a top side as well, so I’m delighted with the result.”
The result means City are level on points with Liverpool having played a game more, while we are one point back from leaders Arsenal, and Foden believes this is the most important part of the campaign.
“[It’s] very enjoyable, but very challenging,” he added.
“So many games in a short period of time you have to always be ready and live your life right to make sure you’re ready for the game, so this is the important part of the season now.”
