Cole Palmer has recognised that he will need to remain patient and earn his minutes after a fine display to help City defeat Swindon Town 4-1 in the FA Cup third round.

Palmer scored a stunner and assisted another in a Man of the Match display at the County Ground, with Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus also getting their names on the scoresheet.

The 19-year-old appreciates that he will need to remain patient to keep earning his opportunities in the first team.

“I just want to get minutes. I just try to do what I can to impress,” he admitted.

“Go in every day, train, work hard, don’t sulk, don’t moan, just get on with it.

“Hopefully my chances will come. I’ve just got to be patient.”

The teenager also spoke about his wonder goal and why an early goal was so important to help City progress into the fourth round.
