Pep Guardiola says Manchester City’s winning mentality has allowed his team to consistently compete for major honours during his illustrious tenure at the Etihad.

Under the Catalan’s tutelage, we have lifted a staggering 18 trophies since his arrival in 2016 which includes the Treble in 2022/23 and a fourth straight Premier League crown last term.

Amid the sparkling success, the Blues have continually competed on all fronts domestically and in Europe – continuing this campaign as we’re currently enjoying an 11 game unbeaten run.

This was extended when City came from behind to beat Wolves 2-1 last time out thanks to Josko Gvardiol’s equaliser and John Stones’ dramatic stoppage time winner.

And when asked if City have a champion or killer mentality, Guardiola responded: “Absolutely.

“This is the incredible value of these players. These ones and previous ones for the mentality the Club has absolutely this is the most.

“They know how difficult it is for them to be consistent for six or seven years. They can be consistent for a month every season but for six, seven years and still now we are there.

“All the teams go down, we aren’t in that position. The proof is that the runs from Matheus to recover the ball that help us to make three corners and at the end we did it [score the second against Wolves].

“It means that is the reality of our team. We have to continue. That fact we improve the skills and we do better that’s normal.

“I never had one season here when everything start perfect. Maybe the year for the 100 points when we started and we were unstoppable in the Premier League.

“All the other we have our moments up and down. When we decrease a little. We talk and correct and we come back in our rhythm and now it’s no different.”
