City will take on Real at the Etihad seeking to overturn a 3-0 deficit from the first leg.
Addressing the media at Monday’s pre-match press conference the boss stressed how determined he and the squad were to try and conjure up a night to remember.
But he said the key was balance risk with a pragmatic approach in what promises to be a special occasion.
“We have to be sustainable in our approach and in all departments, we will talk tomorrow about what we have to do until the end,” the boss stressed.
“The first leg was not the best one, it’s difficult sometimes because we created in the first 20 minutes four or five chances and they have three shots on target and three goals. That’s the Champions League, that’s why it’s so difficult.
“We have to live with that and take more risks to try, but even if the result is not good in the first half we still have to keep going and carry on because you never know.
“We have to create a good game with our people and we will try.”
