Cherki set up Reijnders for the opener just three minutes after half-time but the hosts roared back with an Omari Hutchinson leveller.
With seven minutes left to play, Cherki showed his quality but drilling into the bottom corner from Josko Gvadiol’s knockdown to ensure three points come back with us to Manchester from the City Ground.

In his interview with City Studios after the game, Reijnders declared that the Premier League’s assist leader knows exactly what positions to take up to inflict maximum damage on our opponents and wants to see more of the same from the 22-year-old.
“Cherki is a great player,” he began.
“He knows to find the spaces in between the lines or behind the defending lines.
“A great player and he has to keep going like this.”
Reijnders also provided his overall assessment of the victory, spoke about his opener in front of City’s travelling fans and looked ahead to our New Year’s Day encounter with Sunderland.
