As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we chart the rise and rise of Rico Lewis.

From  Academy prospect to vital first team squad member, Rico’s progress has been nothing short of meteoric.

The former Under-18s captain has already packed plenty into his life, making his Premier League debut for City on 13 August before his first start and goal in the November UEFA Champions League victory over Sevilla.

He’s always been ambitious, stating in a previous interview that he wanted to play in the UEFA Champions League before his 18th birthday.

Still 17 at the time, the right-back actually became the youngest player to score on his first Champions League start with that strike.

After joining our academy at the age of eight, Lewis enjoyed almost seamless progression through the ranks until catching the eye of Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff.

Here we tell the story of Lewis’ career starting with his upbringing and continuing all the way through to his current status in one of the best squads in world football.
