Things were looking good for Pep Guardiola’s men when Jack Grealish opened the scoring, before the 19-year-old added his first Premier League goal of his career to double our lead.
However, Palace punished us late on with goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and a penalty from Michael Olise as City were forced to settle for a point.
Shortly after the game, the defender explained how he felt when he scored.
“It was a good feeling in the moment,” Lewis said.
“But as soon as what happened in the next action of the game it’s forgotten about, now I can’t enjoy it as much as I would have liked to.
“It’s a positive in a negative situation, but at the end of the day we wanted the result and we haven’t got it today.”
The enjoyment of the goal was dampened by Palace’s two late strikes and Lewis felt that City deserved all three points.
“We are very disappointed with the result, it’s unfortunate with the performance we put in,” he added.
“We were so good in terms of our control in the game and scoring two goals to go in front but at the end of the day we haven’t come away with the result we had hoped for.
“The people in that dressing room want to win every single game so of course with that comes the negatives of not winning.”
