Riyad Mahrez says Manchester City was the only club where he could see his future after signing a two-year contract extension.

Having penned fresh terms to prolong his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2025, the Algerian winger admitted he could not imagine playing his football anywhere else.

Mahrez has proved pivotal in City’s success since his arrival four years ago.

His trademark trickery has made him a key component of Pep Guardiola’s attack, delivering some exceptional performances en route to winning three Premier League titles, three Carabao Cups and an FA Cup.

The 31-year-old enjoyed his best return last season, leading City’s scoring charts with 24 goals and he is confident he is playing the best football of his career at present.

“I am very happy to extend my contract here and to stay and see my future here,” he told mancity.com.

“It was the only club I was seeing my future with and I am very happy.

I think I am [playing my best football]. I have more experience and more games and know how to manage my games.

“Obviously, last year I scored a lot of goals and helped the team to achieve things like everyone else. I think I am in a very good moment.”
