And reflecting on both Foden’s display and another piece of English history, Mahrez said the England star’s impact demonstrated how everyone was pushing each other to get better and keep improving.

“Phil is growing and playing more than last season, and everyone is playing very good and improving the level of the squad and we are all pushing each other,” Mahrez told CityTV.

“We are in a good moment, but we have to keep focused, keep our feet on the floor and keep working.”
