Riyad Mahrez is now the most creative African player in the history of the Premier League.
The Algerian’s cross for Kevin De Bruyne in last weekend’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool was his 56th assist in the Premier League.
That saw him go beyond Didier Drogba’s total of 55 assists in the English top flight during his career as the leading African player in that metric.
Mo Salah, Liverpool’s Egyptian winger, is the nearest active challenger on 54 assists.
The 32-year-old made his Premier League debut with Leicester City back in 2014 and spent four seasons in the top flight with the Foxes, winning the 2015/16 title.
Since moving to the Etihad, our winger has lifted the title a further three times and been one of Pep Guardiola‘s key players in recent seasons.
