City assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell says Pep Guardiola remains in regular remote contact ahead of Friday’s FA Cup tie at Swindon despite his Covid-19 isolation.

The City boss and assistant Juanma Lillo both received positive test results on Tuesday, meaning they will miss Friday’s 20:00 (UK) FA Cup curtain-raiser at the County Ground.

Borrell instead will take charge of our third round tie in their absence, but thankfully he revealed that the duo are only experiencing mild symptoms.

Indeed, City’s assistant coach said Guardiola and Lillo’s absence hasn’t affected preparations too drastically, with the duo working alongside Borrell remotely.

“He’s fine. Obviously he has the virus but fortunately he hasn’t got a lot of symptoms,” Borrell said of Guardiola during his pre-match press conference.

“We are permanently in touch, like we would be here but on zoom or via a call.

“It’s like we always do but instead of live, it’s through technology.”
