The 27-year-old dictates play from deep but also steps in with vital contributions in the final third, whether it’s scoring, assisting or finding a team-mate in space.
He has now played 238 times for City, scoring 24 times.
The most notable of his finishes was the winner in the final of last season’s Champions League, seeing us lift the famous trophy for the first time and complete an historic Treble.
There was also a glorious curling effort against Bayern Munich earlier in that run.
In seasons prior, he scored a late winner at Arsenal and the equaliser as we came from behind on the final day to beat Aston Villa and lift the Premier League title in dramatic fashion.
With seven goals already in this campaign, he has already equalled his best total for City.
