Rodrigo believes City strove to be our best to earn all three points in the second half of the 1-1 Premier League draw with Chelsea.

The midfielder’s thunderous deflected effort after 83 minutes secured a point for Pep Guardiola‘s side after Raheem Sterling had put the visitors ahead in the first half.

The champions had 32 shots at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland responsible for nine of them, whilst also boasting 79 touches in the Chelsea box, but could not find a late winner.

The point means we’re four points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand over Jurgen Klopp’s side.

After the game, Rodrigo said:

“[I’m] a bit disappointed to be fair. We could do better in some situations. When you concede a goal, it’s always tough to come back.

“We’ve done it in previous games but it’s not always easy. We were so, so close to doing it. We gave everything.

“I think the example is the second half. We need to learn from the mistakes and try move on. Sometimes the point is not bad. It keeps us fighting.

“We have to perform well in the next one against Brentford. If we win, then we will be there. This has to be the mentality.”
