Rodrigo says that City will go into Tuesday night’s crucial Champions League last 16 first leg tie at Sporting CP armed with an insatiable hunger for success.

Pep Guardiola’s side will resume European action away in the Portuguese capital Lisbon seeking to replicate the superb domestic form that has seen us open up a nine-point lead in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup fifth round.

It promises to be a tough test against a Sporting side that has impressed greatly under head coach Ruben Amorim.

But Spanish international Rodrigo – who has been in outstanding form throughout this term - says that the principles and desire that have underpinned our success over the past few seasons will once again drive the players on at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

“We know that winning all the time is difficult, but we show our hunger every year and every year and every year – this is the character that is built in Man City,” the holding midfielder asserted.

“I think this team we have to demand everything as we have the quality, the ambition and we have the structure to do it and we are going to demand to do it.

“From the beginning to now we’re doing an unbelievable season because of the way we focus every game, and the mentality of every guy here every day, so it’s not a surprise.

“But, trust me, it’s so, so tough to keep in mind all the time you have beat and beat and win

“We feel that is difficult but always when you win you want more and more and makes you have the confidence to give more to yourself.”
