Ruben Dias has revealed the faith placed in him by City – and the Club’s ambition and desire to be the very best – were key factors in his decision to further extend his stay at the Etihad.

The 24-year-old has committed his future to the Club until 2027, having signed a new long-term contract extension.

Dias only joined us from Benfica in September 2020 but such has been his seismic impact that the Club were keen to ensure he remains a long-term part of our plans.

For his part, Dias – who was a key member of the City squad that won both the Premier League title and Carabao Cup last term – referenced the way the Club were keen to further reward his progress – alongside our quest to be the best we can be – as pivotal factors in signing the new contract.

“It means a lot and it speaks for itself. I am very happy, and I am also very happy that the club felt the confidence to do it,” Dias revealed after agreeing to further extend his stay at City.

“The club wants to be the best and that is an ambition I love and want to be a part of. I share the ambition of the club and that is probably one of the most important things.”
